SAE Week 8

Howdy,

This week was a bit shorter as I snuck off to NSW for the Easter break, but still had plenty going on. On Tuesday I presented my cultural studies dialectical inquiry on sex and sexualisation, queer culture, censorship and other related topics. It was a massive set of subjects to cover and I think went really well. The class got quite involved and I was surprised to see how each slide in the presentation was received and how much discussion they generated. The items that I was confident that I had researched thoroughly were the ones that seemed to be best received. It can be a tough environment and the material I was presenting was potentially confronting at times, but I think that everyone appreciated the analytical approach and joined in.

On Monday I had the opportunity to work on a feature film set which was a terrific experience. It was a very early start, especially after my gig on Sunday night, so I had to really focus my concentration on the job. I learned a lot just by observing the other departments and trying to figure out the dynamics of how everybody works together. My job was boom-swinger, and I was glad to have had the baseline training earlier in the year. I’m looking forward to more on-set experience in the next few weeks.
